"*Ikuenpitsu*" is a virtual gallery specialising in pencil art. It is a pun on the artist's name, Ikue, and enpitsu,the Japanese word for pencil.
Ikue, I am an artist captivated by the possibilities of the pencil, and I exhibit my pencil drawings on her blog daily.
In this century's culture of instant gratification, the time-consuming art forms of yesteryear seem forgotten by many. I sharpen pencils carefully until they are like needles and then draw a myriad of thin, delicate lines to create a unified whole.
I am eager to dispel the myth that copied images are devoid of emotion and warmth, even when seen online. I really would like to communicate the warm affection of handwritten pencil drawings, and it's my hope to bring these images to as many people as possible.
